How to integrate your meter

SocialDiabetes connects to a wide variety of glucometers. Although each glucometer has its own integration process, we have summarised the general steps that must be followed to connect glucometers to SocialDiabetes:

1. Activate Bluetooth on your mobile phone.
   In ‘Settings’ > Bluetooth > Activate Bluetooth. 
2. Activate Bluetooth on your glucometer.
3. Open SocialDiabetes.
   On the left vertical menu, select ‘Connect your Device’.
   Choose your glucometer from the list. Click on ‘Connect’ and wait a few seconds.
   If, during the connection process, the App requests a code, check the screen of your glucometer and insert the code into the mobile phone. 
4. Connection complete!

Connect Glucomen Areo 2K (iOS)

Before reading how to sync the device, please take into account the following requirements:

Requirements and limitations

IMPORTANT: There have been detected cases of Areo 2K glucometers that despite meeting the requirements mentioned below do not work on iOS. This is due to Menarini distributing incompatible glucometers. If this is your case, please fill in this form and request a new glucometer.

• Only new glucometers (manufactured from the end of 2018) are compatible.
• You can identify them by verifying that the serial number is greater than GT532950.
• Minimum requirements: iOS 11 and iPhone 7.

Steps:

• In SocialDiabetes
  • In the vertical menu on the left, select “Connect your device”.
  • Choose “Glucomen Areo 2K” from the list. Click the link button.
  • Once linked, you can transfer the glucose reading using the following steps:
    
    • Press the “+” button, on the main screen, to create a new log and select the “NFC” option (Image 1).
    • Move the glucometer closer to the top of your mobile to transfer the data (Image 2 and 3).
    • The first time, ALL the history of Glucose and Acetones will be transferred.

Connect Glucomen Aero 2K

To connect your Glucomen Areo 2K to your phone and transfer your capillary blood
glucose automatically to SocialDiabetes, follow these steps:

1. Update SocialDiabetes to the latest version available.
2. Follow these instructions on the Glucomen glucometer:

Switch on the glucometer by pressing down on the O button for 3 seconds.

4. Open SocialDiabetes on your phone.
○ Open the menu and go to Connect your device.
○ Press on the Glucomen Areo 2K glucometer CONNECT button.

5. Activate NFC on your phone. Go to Settings and switch on NFC.

6. Place the back of the Glucomen Areo against the back of your phone until the
device vibrates (it can take a few seconds. Please wait patiently).

7. If the phone is not blocked, SocialDiabetes will open and the New Log screen will
appear. The value from the glucometer will appear in the glucose field.

From now on, every time you place Glucomen close to your phone, a New Log will open
automatically.

If you cannot synchronise your devices, try again from step 3.

Connect Glucocard SM

To connect your Glucocard SM and automatically and instantly transfer your blood glucose result to SocialDiabetes, follow these steps:

● Update SocialDiabetes to the latest version available.

Follow these instructions on the Glucocard SM glucometer:

• Switch on the glucometer by pressing down on the O button for 2 seconds.
• Press the up button twice.
• OFF in large letters appears on the screen and the letters BLE flash
  on the top.

○ Press the ‘O’ button.
■ OFF flashes on the screen.

• Your glucometer is about to search for your phone.
• To continue:
• Press the up button and choose number – 1 -.

Press the ‘O’ button.
■ PrG flashes on the screen.

• On your smartphone:
  • Open the SocialDiabetes app.
  • On the left vertical menu, select ‘Connect your Device’.
  • Choose Accu-Chek from the list and click on ‘Connect’.
• Return to your glucometer and do not exit this screen.

• On your GlucoCard SM and press the ‘O’ button again.
  • The PrG screen remains frozen.
  • The Bluetooth icon starts flashing at the top of the screen.
  • You have 30 seconds to perform the following step:

• On your phone, activate your device’s Bluetooth and Visibility (so that the glucometer can find it).
  • A new available device should appear at the top of the list, normally starting with EAM… (If it does not appear, press the search icon to look for available devices).
  • Press on the name and ‘Connected’ will appear.

If the icon does not appear, repeat from step 3, please. If it has been connected correctly, it will appear at the top of the glucometer.  

• On the glucometer, press the V button.
  • When only the icon  appears, press the O button.

• Open the SocialDiabetes app on your phone, go to Settings > Connect your device.
• Press the CONNECT button on the side of the GlucoCard SM.

From now on, if you keep your phone Bluetooth switched on, when you do your blood glucose reading and remove the strip from your glucometer, SocialDiabetes will open automatically and the blood glucose value will appear on the screen.

How to link Contour Next One

To automatically connect your Contour Next ONE to your smartphone and synchronise your
logs from the glucometer with SocialDiabetes, follow these steps:
● Update SocialDiabetes to the latest version available.
● Switch on the glucometer by pressing down on the button until a blue light appears
and stays on.
● The Bluetooth icon should be flashing on the screen.

• Open SocialDiabetes on your phone.
  • Open the menu and go to ‘Connect your device’.
  • Press on the Contour Next ONE glucometer ‘CONNECT’ button.
  • If you do not have Bluetooth activated on your phone, a message asking for the activation will appear. Select YES.

When you make a log with your glucometer, if your phone is unblocked,SocialDiabetes will open and the New Log screen will appear with the Glucose field filled in with the value from the glucometer.

If you cannot synchronise your devices, try again from step 3.

Connect Accu Chek Aviva Connect

To connect your Accu-Chek Aviva Connect and automatically and instantly transfer your
blood glucose result to SocialDiabetes, follow these steps:

• On your smartphone:
  • Update SocialDiabetes to the latest version available.
  • Activate Bluetooth: ‘Settings’ > Bluetooth.
  • Activate your device’s Visibility (so that the glucometer can find it).
• On your glucometer:
  • Press the ‘OK’ button.
  • Scroll through the menu with the centre arrows to ‘Settings’ and press ‘OK’.
  • Scroll with the arrows to ‘Wireless’ and press ‘OK’.
  • Scroll through the menu with the centre arrows to ‘Synchronisation’ and press ‘OK’.

Scroll through the menu with the centre arrows to ‘Synchronise device’ andpress ‘OK’. The glucometer screen will show a number.

• On your smartphone:
  • Open the SocialDiabetes app.
  • On the left vertical menu, select ‘Connect your Device’.
  • Choose Accu-Chek from the list and click on ‘Connect’.
  • Your telephone will show the message: ‘Searching for glucometer…’.
  • If the glucometer shows a code, a message will appear on your phone for you to confirm the device to be connected, insert the glucometer code and click on ‘Accept’.
  • The glucometer will show a confirmation message: ‘Synchronised’.
  • Verify that ‘Accu-Chek’ appears on the ‘Connected Devices’ list in the Bluetooth menu.
• Open SocialDiabetes:
  • Connection complete!

Connect Accu-chek Guide

To connect your Accu-Chek Guide and automatically and instantly transfer your blood
glucose result to SocialDiabetes, follow these steps:

• On your smartphone:
  • Update SocialDiabetes to the latest version available.
  • Activate Bluetooth: ‘Settings’ > Bluetooth.
  • Activate your device’s Visibility (so that the glucometer can find it).
• On your glucometer:
  • Press the ‘OK’ button.
  • Scroll through the menu with the centre arrows to ‘Settings’ and press ‘OK’.
  • Scroll with the arrows to ‘Wireless’ and press ‘OK’.
  • Scroll through the menu with the centre arrows to ‘Synchronisation’ and press ‘OK’.
  • Scroll through the menu with the centre arrows to ‘Synchronise device’ and press ‘OK’.
  • The glucometer screen will show a number.
• On your smartphone:
  • Open the SocialDiabetes app.
  • On the left vertical menu, select ‘Connect your Device’.
  • Choose Accu-Chek from the list and click on ‘Connect’.
  • Your telephone will show the message: ‘Searching for glucometer…’.
  • If the glucometer shows a code, a message will appear on your phone for you to confirm the device to be connected, insert the glucometer code and click on ‘Accept’.
  • The glucometer will show a confirmation message: ‘Synchronised’.
  • Verify that ‘Accu-Chek’ appears on the ‘Connected Devices’ list in the Bluetooth menu.
• Open SocialDiabetes:
  • Connection complete!

Connect Accu-Chek Instant

To connect your Accu-Chek Guide and automatically and instantly transfer your blood
glucose result to SocialDiabetes, follow these steps:

• On your smartphone:
  ○ Update SocialDiabetes to the latest version available.
  ○ Activate Bluetooth: ‘Settings’ > Bluetooth.
  ○ Activate your device’s Visibility (so that the glucometer can find it).
• On your glucometer:
  • Press right side button until Bluetooth symbols blink○ Activate Bluetooth: ‘Settings’ > Bluetooth.
• On your smartphone:
  • Open the SocialDiabetes app.
  • On the left vertical menu, select ‘Connect your Device’.
  • Choose Accu-Chek from the list and click on ‘Connect’.
  • Your telephone will show the message: ‘Searching for glucometer…’.
  • Your device will need a code to link the glucometer -> You can find it in the back of the glucometer where it says “PIN:”
  • The glucometer will show a confirmation message: ‘Synchronised’.
• ○ Verify that ‘Accu-Chek’ appears on the ‘Connected Devices’ list in the
• Bluetooth menu.

The glucometer will show a confirmation message: ‘Synchronised’.Open SocialDiabetes:
● Connection complete!

Connect GlucoRx Nexus Blue

To connect GlucoRX Nexus Blue with SocialDiabetes and transfer your blood glucose tests automatically, follow this steps:

• In your smartphone
  • Activate Bluetooth: (Settings > Bluetooth) Activate Bluetooth and visibility
• In SocialDiabetes
  • Go to Main menu on top left in our home screen.
  • Scroll down and select the option “Connect your device”
• In your glucometer
  • Press the button one to switch it on
  • Press again to see the registered results
  • Press a third time until a blue light blinks (before the light starts blinking you will see the word “OFF” on the screen)
• In SocialDiabetes
  • Choose GlucoRX Nexus Blue from the list of devices (Main Menu > Connect your device > GlucoRX).
  • Select “Link” and wait until a message pops up to confirm the connection
  • Confirm the connection by accepting the message.

(*) Remember that if you do not have a glucometer with Bluetooth or NFC technology, you can register your controls manually and keep them always on hand in your mobile.

IMPORTANT

The measurements of the glucometers should be saved every time a glucose is transferred to the telephone, in this way correct registration is guaranteed.

Connect Dexcom

Important: Supported from Dexcom G5

There are two methods for linking a Dexcom device:

Method 1 (*Only for users with a Dexcom account in the United States)

• In SocialDiabetes
  
  • In the vertical menu on the left, select “Connect your device”.
  • Choose “Dexcom” from the “Continuous Glucose Meters” list. Click the link button.
  • Log in using your Dexcom account information through the web form that appears on the screen.
  • From now on, the data of your Dexcom device will appear in the main screen of the application.

Method 2 (*Only for users with iPhone and Apple Health)

• In SocialDiabetes
  
  • In the vertical menu on the left, select “Connect Your Device”.
  • Choose “Dexcom” from the “Continuous Glucose Meters” list. Click the link button.
  • Accept the permissions requested by Apple Health so that SocialDiabetes can read Dexcom data (Assuming that your Dexcom application writes its data in Apple Health).
  • From now on, the data of your Dexcom device will appear in the main screen of the application. 

Import records from your glucometer

If this is the first time you connect your device, you can import the glucose history stored in the meter.

Contour Next ONE: Once connected, turn off the meter and turn it on again. When switching on, the glucose history will be transferred.

Accu – Chek Aviva Connect: After synchronizing with SocialDiabetes, go to My Data => Data Transfer => Wireless

Glucomen Aero 2k: Each time you synchronize with SocialDiabetes, all glucose logs that have not been previously saved in the app will be saved.

Requirements and limitations

• Currently, only available for Contour Next ONE, Accu – Chek Aviva Connect and Glucomen Aero 2k.
• Only available for iOS devices
